This three-part series deals with establishment of successful companion-pet programs in health-care centers, providing residents with a much-needed outlet for love and affection. The first program covers selection of cats with suitable temperament andhealth; maintenance requirements such as proper diet, housing, brushing, recreation, and litter; and arrangement of staff responsibility for the cats.
